Is Agarose vegan?

Agarose is a polysaccharide extracted from red seaweed (Gracilaria and Gelidium species), composed of repeating agarobiose units. It is one of the two main components of agar and is used in cosmetics and laboratory applications as a gelling agent.

Classifications are made to the best of our knowledge based on available scientific and regulatory sources. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of every entry, errors in the sources we draw from can always occur.
