Is Allantoin vegan?

Allantoin is a naturally occurring compound found in the root of comfrey (Symphytum officinale) and other plants, as well as in the urine of most mammals. It is also produced synthetically from uric acid. In cosmetics, it is valued for its soothing, moisturising, and keratolytic properties.
