Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) is a fat-soluble vitamin most commonly produced from lanolin (derived from sheep wool) or other animal sources such as fish liver oil. It can also be derived from lichen or produced synthetically, and is used as a dietary supplement and food fortifier.
