p-Phenylenediamine (PPD) is a synthetic organic compound with the formula C6H4(NH2)2, used primarily as a component of engineering polymers and composites such as Kevlar. It is also widely used as an ingredient in hair dyes and is occasionally used as a substitute for henna. It is a white solid that can darken upon air oxidation.
