Is Saccharum vegan?

Saccharum

Vegan

Saccharum is a genus of tall perennial grasses in the family Poaceae, which includes commercially important species such as sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum). In cosmetic and pharmaceutical contexts the term may also refer to sugar or lactose (milk sugar); when used to mean sugarcane-derived sugar, it is vegan, but if it refers to lactose it is vegetarian but not vegan.
