Is Acetoin vegan?

Acetoin is an organic compound with the formula CH3CH(OH)C(O)CH3, a colorless liquid with a pleasant, buttery odor. It occurs naturally via bacterial fermentation and is also produced synthetically for use as a flavoring agent.
