Acid Fuchsin (CI 42685) is an acidic magenta synthetic dye with the chemical formula C20H17N3Na2O9S3, a sodium sulfonate derivative of fuchsine. It is widely used in histology, particularly in Masson's trichrome stain to distinguish muscle from collagen in tissue sections, and can also be used to identify growing bacteria.
