Amido Black 10B (CI 20470) is a synthetic azo dye used in biochemical research to stain total protein on transferred membrane blots such as western blots, and in forensic investigations to detect blood proteins associated with latent fingerprints, staining them blue-black. It can be used in methanol- or water-based solutions and can also stain collagen and reticulin in combination with picric acid.
