Is Calcium Stearate vegan?

Calcium stearate is the calcium salt of stearic acid, used as a lubricant, release agent, and stabiliser in cosmetics, food, and plastics. Stearic acid can be sourced from either animal fats or plant oils, making the origin of calcium stearate variable.
