Camphor is a waxy, aromatic terpenoid ketone traditionally derived from the wood of the camphor laurel tree (Cinnamomum camphora) but now mostly produced synthetically from turpentine oil; it is used in cosmetics for its cooling, soothing and fragrance properties.
