Ceramide 5 (a retired INCI name, now designated Ceramide AS) is an N-acylated sphingolipid with an erythro structure, similar in structure to Ceramide 4 but with generally longer acyl chains. It can be produced synthetically or derived from animal or plant sources depending on the manufacturer.
