Cetearyl Alcohol is a mixture of fatty alcohols consisting predominantly of cetyl and stearyl alcohol, used as an emulsion stabilizer and emollient in cosmetics. It can be derived from plant oils (e.g. coconut, palm) or, less commonly, from animal fats.
