Fuchsine (also spelled fuchsin) is a synthetic magenta aniline dye with the chemical formula C20H19N3·HCl, also known as rosaniline hydrochloride. It is used as a biological stain, in bacteriology (Gram staining), and as a textile dye, and is produced from coal-tar derivatives.
