Is Galactose vegan?

Galactose is a monosaccharide simple sugar and a C-4 epimer of glucose, found in dairy products, plants, and produced industrially by hydrolysis of lactose or synthesis; it is not exclusively animal-derived.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
