Kinetin is a cytokinin, a synthetic plant growth hormone that promotes cell division, originally isolated from autoclaved herring sperm DNA but now produced synthetically for cosmetic and plant tissue culture use. In cosmetics it is used as an anti-aging skin-conditioning ingredient.
