Is Methionine vegan?
Methionine
Methionine is an essential amino acid required for protein synthesis in humans, and also serves as a precursor to cysteine and the methylation agent S-adenosylmethionine (SAM). It is naturally found in a wide range of protein-containing foods. It can be produced synthetically or via fermentation, but is also sourced from animal-derived proteins such as egg albumin and casein, making its vegan status dependent on the production source.
