Methyl Blue is a synthetic triarylmethane dye with the molecular formula C₃₇H₂₇N₃Na₂O₉S₃, used as a histological stain to colour collagen blue in tissue sections. It is employed in differential staining techniques such as Mallory's trichrome and Gömöri trichrome stains, and can mediate electron transfer in microbial fuel cells.
