Octinoxate, also known as ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate or octyl methoxycinnamate, is a synthetic ester used as a UV-B filter in sunscreens and cosmetics. It is produced by esterification of 2-ethylhexanol with methoxycinnamic acid.
