Picrotoxin, also known as cocculin, is a poisonous crystalline compound consisting of a 1:1 mixture of picrotoxinin and picrotin. It occurs naturally in the fruit of the Anamirta cocculus plant and acts as a potent convulsant and GABA-A receptor antagonist; it can also be synthesised chemically.
