Polyurethane-99 is a synthetic polymer made by reacting succinic acid with 1,4-butanediol and neopentyl glycol to form an ester polyol, which is then reacted with saturated methylene diphenyl diisocyanate and chain-extended with a sulfonated diamine and ethylenediamine to make it water dispersible. It is used in cosmetics as a film-forming agent.
