Aniline Yellow (CI 11000) is the first synthetic azo dye, first produced in 1861 by C. Mene and commercialised in 1864. It is a yellow azo dye and aromatic amine derivative of azobenzene, manufactured from aniline, and has the appearance of an orange powder.
