Stearone (dioctadecyl ketone, or 18-pentatriacontanone) is a fatty ketone derived from stearic acid, used as a lubricant and thickener in cosmetics and industrial applications. Since stearic acid can be obtained from animal or vegetable sources, the vegan status of stearone depends on the origin of the raw material.
