SYBR Green I is an asymmetrical cyanine dye used as a nucleic acid stain in molecular biology. It binds preferentially to double-stranded DNA, with the resulting complex showing peak absorption at 497 nm and green light emission, and it is produced by Molecular Probes Inc. (now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific). It is a fully synthetic fluorescent dye.
