Tallow is a hard fat rendered from the body fat of ruminant animals, particularly cattle and sheep, typically from tissues surrounding the kidneys. It is used in soaps, candles, lubricants, and as a cooking fat.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
