Is Turmeric vegan?

Turmeric is a bright yellow spice and colorant derived from the dried and ground rhizome of Curcuma longa, an East Indian perennial herb. Its primary active compound is curcumin, which is widely used as a food colorant, flavoring agent, and in traditional medicine.
