Tyrosine (4-hydroxyphenylalanine) is one of the 20 standard amino acids used by cells to synthesize proteins. It can be derived from plant sources, produced synthetically, or hydrolyzed from animal proteins such as casein (milk protein), making its vegan status dependent on the production source.
