Is Abalone vegan?

Abalone are sea snails in the genus Haliotis, the only genus in the family Haliotidae. They are marine molluscs with distinctive flattened, ear-like shells featuring a nacreous interior. The flesh is widely regarded as a delicacy and the shells are used in cosmetics and jewellery.
