Is Annatto Norbixin vegan?

Annatto Norbixin is the water-soluble carotenoid pigment derived from the seeds of the annatto plant (Bixa orellana) by saponification of bixin, used as a natural orange-yellow food colouring (E160b(ii)).

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
