Olibanum, or Frankincense, is the resinous exudate of Boswellia carterii (also known as Boswellia sacra), a tree of the family Burseraceae. It consists mainly of resin acids and their esters, terpenes, and oxidation or polymerization products of these terpenes, and is used in incense and perfumery.
