Is Calcium Formate vegetarian?

Calcium formate is a calcium salt of formic acid, produced synthetically and used as a food preservative and animal feed additive. It is approved in the US (INS 238) but not currently listed as an EU-approved food additive.

An ingredient is considered vegetarian if it avoids components derived from killing an animal.
