Chitosan Nitrate is the nitric acid salt of chitosan, a polysaccharide typically derived from chitin found in crustacean shells or fungal sources; its origin can therefore be either animal or non-animal.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
