Defined Cell Culture Media is a formulated mixture of salts, amino acids, vitamins, and other nutrients (such as sodium chloride, glucose, glutamine, and various amino acids) designed to support the growth of cells or microorganisms in culture; ingredient origin can vary and may include animal- or non-animal-derived components.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
