Is Furfural vegan?

Furfural is a cyclic aldehyde derived from the dehydration of plant-based sugars found in agricultural byproducts such as corncobs, oat and wheat bran, and sawdust. It is a colorless to brown liquid used as a solvent and chemical intermediate.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
