Is Guaiac Gum vegan?

Guaiac gum (gum guaiacum) is a natural resin obtained from the wood of Guaiacum trees, used as an antioxidant and preservative in food. It is approved in the US (INS 241) but not currently listed as an EU-approved additive under that number.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
