Is Heptylparaben vegetarian?

Heptylparaben (heptyl p-hydroxybenzoate) is a synthetic ester of para-hydroxybenzoic acid used as an antimicrobial preservative in foods and cosmetics. It is approved in the US (INS 209) but not currently listed as an EU food additive.

An ingredient is considered vegetarian if it avoids components derived from killing an animal.
