Is Hofmann's Violet vegan?

Hofmann's Violet is a synthetic aniline-based triarylmethane dye named after the German chemist August Wilhelm von Hofmann. It is used as a textile dye and biological stain, and is produced from coal-tar derived aniline precursors.
