Hydrogenated Squalene, also known as squalane, is the fully saturated hydrocarbon obtained by controlled hydrogenation of squalene; it can be derived from plant sources (e.g. olives, sugarcane), animal sources (notably shark liver oil), or synthesized, and is used as an emollient and moisturizer in cosmetics.
