Is Hydroxystearamide MEA vegetarian?

Hydroxystearamide MEA is the monoethanolamide of 12-hydroxystearic acid, used in cosmetics as a thickening and opacifying agent. The hydroxystearic acid feedstock can be derived from plant (e.g. castor) oil or animal fat sources.
