Is Lactide vegan?

Lactide is a cyclic diester (lactone) derived from two molecules of lactic acid. It is a colorless solid used as a precursor to biodegradable plastics such as polylactic acid.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
