Myristic Acid is a saturated fatty acid with the formula CH3(CH2)12COOH, named after nutmeg from which it was first isolated; it occurs widely in plant fats (e.g. nutmeg, coconut, palm kernel oil) as well as in animal fats and milk, and can also be produced synthetically.
