Nylon-6, also known as polycaprolactam, is a synthetic semicrystalline polyamide produced by ring-opening polymerization of caprolactam. It is used in cosmetics as a bulking agent or film former and in textiles as a fiber, sold under trade names such as Perlon and Capron.
