Phytohemagglutinin (PHA) is a lectin protein isolated from the red kidney bean, Phaseolus vulgaris, that binds specific carbohydrates and causes agglutination of blood cells.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
