Polyquaternium-44 is a synthetic polycationic polymer formed from a copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone and a quaternary imidazolium salt, used in cosmetics primarily as a hair conditioning agent and film former. Like other polyquaterniums, it is fully synthetic and produced industrially.
