Is Ponceau 2R vegan?

Ponceau 2R is a synthetic red azo dye used in histology for staining. It is easily soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol, and it usually comes as a disodium salt. It is also known as Xylidine Ponceau, Acid Red 26, or Food Red 5.
