Is Potassium Shellac vegan?
Potassium Shellac
Potassium Shellac is the potassium salt of fatty acids derived from shellac, a resin secreted by the female lac insect (Kerria lacca). Its production requires harvesting resin from insect secretions, and though the insects are not directly killed to obtain shellac, the raw resin is classified as not vegetarian per common industry classification due to insect origin, and not vegan.
