Silk is a natural protein fibre produced by the larvae (silkworms) of certain bombycine moths, most notably Bombyx mori. The harvesting of silk typically involves killing the silkworm pupae; silk and its derivatives are used in cosmetics for their conditioning and film-forming properties.
Classifications are made to the best of our knowledge based on available scientific and regulatory sources.
