Sodium carbonate, commonly known as soda ash or washing soda, is an inorganic sodium salt of carbonic acid. It occurs naturally as the mineral trona and is also produced industrially via the Solvay process; it is used in cosmetics as a pH adjuster.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
