Sodium Laureth-40 Sulfate is a synthetic anionic surfactant, the sodium salt of the ethoxylated sulfate ester of lauryl alcohol with an average of 40 moles of ethylene oxide. It is used as a cleansing and foaming agent in cosmetic products, derived from fatty alcohols that may originate from coconut or palm oil, or be synthetically produced.
