Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) is the sodium salt of sulfated ethoxylated lauryl alcohol, produced by ethoxylating lauryl alcohol and then sulfating and neutralizing the result. It is a widely used anionic surfactant and foaming agent in personal care products such as shampoos and body washes.
