sr-Sturgeon Polypeptide-2 is a recombinant single-chain protein produced by fermentation in E. coli, synthesized from a gene identical to that coding for Type 2 Collagen Alpha 1 Chain from the sturgeon Acipenser schrenckii. Although based on a fish protein sequence, it is produced entirely through microbial fermentation without animal sourcing.
